Winds of Change

The weather changed shortly after Graduation, with major downpours and high winds. Today another storm blew in with dark clouds and cool temperatures. It has been over a week since all the students left. We have been working non-stop to clean and try and make a place for us and our children.

At times I feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff that needs to be cleaned up, fixed, organized, and put away or tossed. Yesterday, Duchess, Dancer and Jim (the horses) left for a new home in Billings with a nice lady that was looking for some horses for her kids. I was sorry to see Duchess and Dancer go, but it is for the best as I don’t think that they would make it through another winter here in the Swan.

Zeke, (the horse), left today to go to a local woman, who highly skilled as an equine healer. She thinks that she can do body work, energy balancing and realignment and help him feel better. Given his health problems, I was not sorry to see him go and hope she is successful in her efforts with him. My youngest Rose has made good friends with Waitress (the cat), who follows her everywhere. The other cats remain somewhat elusive, although they seem to be more friendly when it is cold and rainy. Buddy (the dog) managed to get sprayed by a skunk on our second night.

Tonight when I went to the Merc, someone asked me how it felt and I realized that I wasn’t sure. I don’t think that it has really sunk in yet. Then they told me that our neighbors were talking about how quiet it was now that the girls are gone.

Well it’s late and we have another big day tomorrow of cleaning, organizing, and trying to make a home here. Wish us well and good night.
